Dutch as a foreign language

There are many possibilities to study or learn the Dutch language throughout the world. It is taught in, for instance, Auckland and Bristol, Cape Town and Kyoto, Liege and Lille, Perugia and Pondicherry, Waterloo and Zagreb. The Dutch language has 21 million native speakers and although not a world language, it can be studied in all corners of the world and for many different purposes. One can, for example, study Dutch as a source language or even follow a course ‘Dutch in tourism’. Dutch as a foreign language is offered both as a major and a minor subject within other degree courses.
